ZTE Selected by Unitech Wireless for GSM Equipment Supply in India

Chinese telecom equipment and network solution provider ZTE has been selected by Unitech Wireless, a joint venture between Telenor Group of Norway and Unitech of India, to provide GSM systems and core network equipment in India, according to an October 14 press release by ZTE. As per the terms of the five-year deal with Unitech Wireless, ZTE is responsible for the supply of equipment across the telecom circles of Delhi, Madhya, Pradesh, and Haryana. Unitech Wireless has been granted a nationwide mobile phone license to operate in all 22 telecom circles of India. The Indian telecom expects to launch its services under the brand name of Uninor in selected circles by year-end 2009.
